"Most centers have a variety of regularly scheduled classes and programs each week. These may include fitness programs, music, dances, computer classes, arts and crafts, bridge and other table games, social activities, support groups, counseling, educational seminars, holiday events, health screenings, lunches and more............."

"There are several ways for you to reap the benefits of what the center has to offer; you simply have to participate. You could become a member, join the Board of Directors, volunteer, teach a class or be a financial supporter. Centers are a place for seniors to socialize, remain active and independent, learn and have fun. They are also places that are comfortable and familiar, sort of like a living room outside of your home and the ideal environment to try something new or keep doing something you already enjoy................."

"Like other non-profit organizations, volunteers are needed to assist in many areas to keep the center functioning each day. These include: staffing reception desks, coordinating special events, doing bulk mailing projects, making telephone calls, being a class instructor, taking on a special project or delivering meals on wheels. Giving even a few hours each week can make a great difference and provide the satisfaction of knowing you are helping make someone’s life a little better........."
